Health Walks June 2017   (16.05.17)

All welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point. A booklet containing over 250 walks is available from the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306 or online at www.horshamhealthwalks.co.uk Beginners are recommended to contact the Walk Leader: to discuss suitability. All walks can be wet and muddy in places. Forthcoming walks in the Nuthurst Parish and neighbouring areas are as follows:-


 


 (2238) Every Sunday & Wednesday 2:30pm: Horsham Heritage Guided Walks A 2 mile walk taking 90 minutes Meet at the Museum in the Causeway. Do you know much about the history of Horsham? Guided historical walk around Horsham to learn more about its’ history and to see changes that have happened over the past centuries. Supported by The Horsham Society. (1009) Fri 9 & 23 June 11:00am: Southwater (1) A 2½ mile flat circular walk along bridleways, country lanes and the Downs Link.. Meet in the Country Park car park (off Cripplegate Lane) RH13 7UN TQ 161258. Southwater Country Car Park Charge (50p - Nov to Mar) (£1.50 - Apr to Oct) Not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies and prams, can be muddy. Dogs allowed on a lead. 1¼ hours. Walkers can choose to walk for 30 or 75 minutes. The Park café will be open for refreshments at the end if you wish. Contact: Jill 07780 701184


 


 (1027) Sun 11, 18 & 25 June 10:30am: Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods A lovely woodland 2¼ mile walk, taking 1¼ hours, generally following main paths and easy under foot, although a small part of the walk will be on narrower paths with tree roots, stubs and uneven ground. Some inclines. Can be muddy in places. Dogs on a lead  are welcome. Meet at Leechpool Wood car park, Horsham (TQ194313), off Harwood Road (B2195).Leader: Armelle 01403 260342


 


(1548) Wed 14 June 10:30am: Park and Hop from Hop Oast Meet at the Hop Oast Park and Ride, Horsham Worthing Road, RH13 0AR. A 2 mile walk, taking one hour. Bus 23 and 98 from Horsham takes you to the Park and Ride. We walk through the new golf course and take a gentle stroll down through one of several routes in Denne Park/Chesworth into Horsham in time for coffee. Alternatively, you can park in the Park and Ride, walk into Horsham, and get the bus back. Don't forget your bus pass. Sorry No dogs. Leaders: Jill 07780 701184 or Jean 07734 323321


 


 


 


(2148) Fri 23 June 10:00am: Lower Beeding. A 4 mile mostly flat (some slopes) walk through open fields and woodland along the edge of Leonardslee and part of the “Ouse Valley Way”. (2255) Sat 24 June 10:30am: Sedgwick Park Circular. We have had permission to park at Hillier Garden Centre, Brighton Road. (RH13 6QA) Please drive into the parking area, and drive right down to the bottom on the gravel and park there. There is a bus stop right outside the Garden centre, it is route 17 to Brighton. A lovely 6 mile walk, taking 2½ hours, along the byways and footpaths just south of Horsham We go down Kerves Lane and then across to Sedgwick Park.  Lovely views across Horsham and the south east, particularly in the winter. There will be horses and cows in the fields we cross, so please no dogs. Maybe muddy in places. The café in the Garden Centre offers tasty snacks at lunchtime. (2200) Sat 15 July 10:00am: Annual Riverside Walk 2017


A 13 mile circular route, taking 4½ hours, which virtually encompasses the town of Horsham using paths along various watercourses and passing through woodland, pastures and farmland. There will be a photographic competition and a Children’s Treasure Hunt. This year we will have a special visitor, Paddington Bear!!


Meet at the Horsham Rugby Club in Hammerpond Road (RH13 6PJ). Clear directional signage and stewards will ensure the correct route is followed. Refreshment and toilets are at Horsham Rugby Club, Chesworth Farm, Warnham Local Nature Reserve and New House Farm. If you decide not to walk the whole route you can take the free minibus back to the start from designated pick up points on the route.
